Where can I learn more about Persian culture?
I am asking this question basically because i don’t know much about the Iranians. I know Iranians are not Arabs and speak a laguage very different from Arabic, however, I don’t know ernough about Iranian culture enough to make a solid distinction between the two.
Here are the things that comes to my mind when I think of:
Arab culture: kaffiyeh, bedioun, calligraphy, Rai music, bellydance, Debka, oud
Indian culture: bhangra, curry, sari, Ramayana, Taj mahal, bollywood, Bhagavad Gita, sacred cows, sitar, bindi
Iranian culture: Shahnameh, persian rug, Nowruz [that's it]
Do you know any websites or books where I can know more about persian culture?
Indian culture is wrong because I am indian. Indian culture is a mixed up tradition because indians are christians muslims and hindus. I hope you can come to india to know more. Its easy to try and dissect what you read and hear but each religion has its own culture.
Persian culture can be learnt by again making friends. Reading it on the net is very different.
